Q4. Does the Japan Patent Office recognize three-dimensional marks?

A4. An applicant can apply for a trademark consisting of a three-dimensional shape by stating so in the application.
The application must adequately describe the three dimensional shape in the application. For example, the following trademarks are not recognized as three dimensional marks:
(1)Marks not described as three-dimensional:
t-a4-1

(2)Marks containing both two and three dimensional nodes:
t-a4-2

(3)The drawings do not match such that they cannot be combined into a single three-dimensional view.
